Congratulations and party

Dear Singers,

I was freaking out after the warm up, but in th end, I’m very glad of what I heard during the concert.  You sung this Midnight Mass with energy, spontaneity and willingness, and that makes me very happy.  I saw your eyes, I saw your smiles and I could hear quite a difference in the sound.  You did great, congratulations!

Now, let’s talk about food… again!

McGill Singers are having a Party:

Mardi, le 18 décembre, 19h30 / Tuesday, December 18th, 7:30 p.m.

Kim is hosting and her address is 52 Parkdale Ave off Donegani Ave. in Pointe Claire (between Ave. Baie de Valois and Blvd. St. Jean).  Her phone is (514) 697-5567.

On the menu? Amuse-gueules! Tapas! Finger foods!

(The clean-up crew is trying to avoid too many dishes, so please help us out and bring finger foods.)  Par contre, Benjamin s’est porté volontaire pour passer l’aspirateur : piano-organ-orchestra-cleaning man.

How about if we divide up the menu like this:

  • Soprani = savory/salty finger foods
  • Alti = sweet finger foods
  • Les hommes = le bon vin!

And bring your charts (Tourdion, Je ne fus et Pilons l’orge).  We might do some caroling…  C’est Noël après tout!

Hope to see you there!  🙂

Room C-201 for warm up

Hi to all Singers,

Just to let you know that the room C-201 will be our warm up room.  Main entrance of the Schulich school (555 Sherbrooke Ouest), on your left (you’re already on the 2nd floor).  Nous commençons à 7:00.

I want to let you know that I trust each one of you for this Noël à Paris concert. We know our stuff; now we have to deliver all the music, the emotion and the pleasure we have to sing individually, and mostly : together.

I’m very excited to perform with you tonight.

See you in the C-201!

For altos

Bonjour les alti,

Toni wants to share with you this audio file.  She uses it to rehearse the Kyrie from Duruflé.  And I must admit, the sound is a lot more delicate for your ears than what I put on the blog.  And there’s a good balance between the voices so that you can distinguish your voice, but hear the other loud enough.

J’espère que la sectionnelle de ce soir vous donnera des ailes!

À demain,

Bring sold tickets money

Bonjour à tous,

Tomorrow, Tuesday is our «générale», downtown McGill.  I’d like to remind you we’ll sing everything. in that order :

  • Charpentier
  • Tourdion
  • Je ne fus jamais si aise
  • Pilons l’orge
  • Duruflé
  • And later, Huron Carol with Seraphim

We don’t need to wear our concert suit.   Only bring dry shoes.  I’d like us not to walk with our boots on the stage.

We need to be ready to sing at 7:00 so please be there around 6:45 in order to find a parking, find the Tanna Schulich Hall, get a place for your coat and boots.  We have a tight schedule with the musicians and Seraphim.

Sold tickets

Please, bring the money (cash) from your sold tickets.  Nancy Soulsby from the Conservatory needs to know where we are at with the sales.  And I want to know too!

There are still a few days to go before the concert.  Review passages you’re not confident enough with.  You still can make a difference on how confortable you’ll be during the concert.  This «aisance» will allow me to make music with you, guys!

The more confortable you are, the more beautiful will be the concert.

Sing sing sing!

Just a quick reminder that there is no rehearsal tomorrow! This is a very well-deserved break for all of you, and I know many of you have exams – good luck!!!  Congratulations on a fantastic Christmas concert season! I am very very proud of all of you, and I look forward to seeing you at our first rehearsal of the new year on Monday, January 14th.  Our first event in 2013? Winter Camp at Orford! I’m already looking forward to it!

Don’t forget to tune into CBC Radio on Christmas Day to hear the CBC/McGill Gala on the radio! (radio 1 @1pm, radio 2 @3pm).

Have great, happy, safe holidays and I’ll see you all in 2013!
